VeriFone (PAY $45.56 -1.58) reported second quarter earnings of $0.46
per share, $0.03 better than the Thomson Reuters consensus of $0.43. Revenues
rose 2.8% to $292.8 million versus the $284.7 million consensus.
PAY reported second quarter gross margins of 43% versus 40.3% street
expectations.
For the third quarter, the company expects to see earnings of $0.45 to $0.46,
excluding non-recurring items, versus the $0.45 Thomson Reuters consensus and
sees revenues falling in the range of $295 million to $300 million versus
the$294.26 million Thomson Reuters consensus.
In fiscal year 2011, the company is expecting earnings of $1.80 to $1.83,
excluding non-recurring items, versus $1.81 Thomson Reuters consensus and sees
revenues of $1.17 billion to $1.18 billion versus the $1.17 billion Thomson
Reuters consensus.
GOOG Commentary: VeriFone believes that if the trials lead to wide scale NFC
deployment, its revenue could be boosted for the next several years by $100
million to $150 million per year in the U.S. and even more internationally.
