The S&P Materials Sector (+0.4%) is modestly higher this morning and is currently outperforming the small losses being sported by the broader market (-0.2%).
Sector News: SA (+2.1%) reported results from the final 14 exploration holes drilled this year at the Sulphurets deposit. Co said that every one of the 34 core holes completed at Sulphurets this year intersected mineralization above the existing reserve's cut-off grade. PZG (+3.9%) announced that its first phase of metallurgical testing on the waste dumps at its 100%-owned Sleeper Gold Project in Nevada has been completed and the results confirm average recoveries of 70% of the contained gold and 34% of the silver, as reported earlier.
Sector Earnings: VAL (+9%).
Broker Calls: SIAL (+0.8%) was initiated with an Overweight at JP Morgan. SHLM (-3.9%) and POL (-2.5%) were downgraded to Neutral from Buy at Longbow. IOSP (+1%) was initiated with a Buy at Sidoti.
